Myki Usage

Posted on  by

Logging into your accounts on desktop using Myki has always been a secure and reliable process, and now we're making it even more convenient.

If you're using a myki card, touch your myki to the centre of the reader. Hold still and listen for the beep. A green light shows on the reader when you've successfully touched on or off. If you're using a smartphone with a Mobile myki, wake up your phone and hover it about 1cm above the reader. Hold still and listen for the beep.

We teased it in our end-of-year wrap-up, but now it’s time to spill the beans: the Myki desktop app is live, and we’re ready for you all to use it.

Usually, any login request made from your desktop through the Myki browser extension must be verified by the Myki mobile app on your phone.

With the Myki desktop app, which is still in open beta, you’ll be able to verify your login requests, and do almost everything you can do in the Myki mobile app, all from the convenience of your desktop.

Usage

Verify logins, switch and create profiles, add and manage items such as passwords, payment cards, secure notes, and 2FAs, and even access the Enterprise Portal if you use Myki for Teams or Myki for MSPs.

  • Myki is a very good password manager, and can be used by both individual and team users – but it’s not really ideal for either of them. Myki gives a lot of options for storing passwords and other types of data, and it’s pretty easy to use.
  • General concession available with Mobile myki can be used by any eligible concession card holder, but the only fare benefit will be the 50 per cent of full fare discount. Any other travel benefit such as free weekend travel isn't available at this time.
  • GETTING AROUND MELBOURNE: How to Use Myki Card + Tram, Train, Bus Melbourne is widely regarded as the city with the best transportation system in Australia. With its impressive and expansive network of tram, train, and bus lines, Melbourne should be quite easy to explore.

Some features like ID cards, Identities, and Pro Features are not yet available, but will all be making their way to the desktop app in due time.

In the meantime, we invite everyone to download the desktop app and share their thoughts and feedback in this thread on our subreddit. We'd love to hear what you think!

Microsoft recently rolled out the latest version of its Edge browser, and as of today, you'll be able to continue using MYKI on it.

With the introduction of this new and improved Chromium-based Edge browser, we've accordingly decided to introduce a new and improved MYKI browser extension compatible with it.

So in case you were planning on switching over, you'll now be able to bring MYKI, and all your stored passwords, credit cards, 2FAs, and more along with you.
